SA Swimmers return with a bagful of medals

8 January 2011: The South African swimming team concluded the CANA Zone 3 & 4 Championships in Botswana today with a total of 60 medals (22 gold, 20 silver and 18 bronze) and 13 new Championship Records.

Sharne Dicks (WP - Vineyard) took her medal tally to nine on the final day of the competition when she raced to a gold medal in the 200m individual medley with a time of 2:32.23. Later on in the evening, Dicks finished with a silver medal in the 100m freestyle (1:03.73). With the highest number of gold medals, seven, Sharne Dicks was the overall top performer of the competition.

It was bronze for Nina Finch (WP – UWC Aquatics) in the 200m individual medley (14 & under age group) finishing in a time of 2:45.84.
