U13 T20 Cricket: WBJS account for WPPS

Western Province Preparatory School travelled down the road to Wynberg Boys Junior School for a T20 fixture this afternoon.

Captain of WPPS, James MacDonald, won the toss and elected to field. Wynberg got off to a very slow start which included the loss of Daiyaan Solomons for a duck early as he played across the line to a straight ball.

Mika and Kieran Adams who batted at three, built the highest partnership of the season with patience as they accumulated 82 runs before Kieran was bowled by James MacDonald for 27 runs.

At the halfway stage of the innings Wynberg had only reached 37/1 but both Mika and Donovan accelerated the scoring towards the end of the innings. Donovan was his usual destructive self as he set about flaying the bowling to all parts of the ground. He finished on 42 runs off just 16 balls while Mika provided the innnigs with some stability with his 43 runs off 55 balls.

WPPS started their chase of the Wynberg total with some gusto once Clyde de Beer strode to the crease after the early dismissal of James MacDonald. While Clyde was still batting there was a real possibility that the visitors could attain the hosts' total.

Unfortunately for WPPS, Clyde was caught and bowled by Aaron Alexander who came through with an inspired spell of bowling picking up 5 wickets for only 9 runs in just 3 overs!

Once Aaron's spell was over WPPS were all but out for the count on 60/7 in the thirteenth over. They did not manage to recover as they closed shop and made sure of batting out the overs. They finished on 71/7 after the full 20 overs.
