On Thursday afternoon Wynberg U13A cricket side hosted Hurleyvale from Johannesburg in a 25 over game. With Wynberg having reached the T20 final to be held on the Frank Reid Oval at Bishops College against Rondebosch on Friday in a Day / Night game some of their regular players were rested.

This gave coach Andre Engel the opportunity to blood some of the U12A players to give him an idea of what lies in store for next year.

All contributed well to a winning cause and what was rather pleasing was the way that Wade Dollman opened the bowling and the mature batting of diminutive Adam Helmbold.

Hurleyvale won the toss and batted first. They managed to reach 102/9 from 25 overs with five wickets being claimed by the bowlers while the other four were all run out.

Wynberg made a meal of chasing down the total after a very solid opening partnership of 66 runs between Mika Ekström and Adam Helmboldt. In the end it was left to Aaron Alexander to score the winning runs with a quick-fire 13 off 7 balls.

Wynberg won by 7 wickets.
