The Bishops U11 rugby team ended off a fine season by dominating the 7-a-side tournaments.
The Bishops side capped their fine season by remaining unbeaten in all their 7-a-side games to win both the Fish Hoek and SACS tournaments.
On a cold and overcast day at SACS Junior school in Newlands, Cape Town, their annual seven-a-side rugby tournament kicked off with matches being played simultaneously on the three junior school fields by the three participating age groups.

The Bishops U11 team edged out Rondebosch in a tense final at the Fish Hoek Sevens on Wednesday afternoon. The final was evenly contested with Rondebosch leveling the scores with a minute to go. Bishops then scored from the last move to secure the win.
Wynberg Boys Junior School hosted a 7-a-side rugby tournament on Thursday afternoon for the U12 age-group that can only be described as being a great success.
With two pools of six sides there was plenty of talent on offer and some scintillating rugby took place. The burger stand and tuckshop were in full swing all day and a festival atmosphere was enjoyed by all.

In an evenly contested game Bishops won 14 -10. Rondebosch came out strongly and controlled the early part of the game and elected to take the points from an early penalty. Bishops then scored 2 converted tries out wide to take the score to 14 -3 at the break. Rondebosch were the only side to score in the second half.
Bishops hosted Rondebosch on Saturday in another Cape rugby derby. The results of the games are listed below:
The statistics below highlight the achievers of the Wynberg U12A side. It must be remembered however, that it takes fifteen players to make a rugby side and that every single team member has contributed to the success of this team's much improved season on previous years.
On a cold, overcast and sometimes rainy day in the shadow of Table Mountain SACS put on a festival of rugby as they hosted traditional rivals Wynberg in the return fixture of the season earlier today.
The Wynberg U12A side had high hopes of turning their home game loss against SACS into victory today as they have steadily improved as a team and have been playing some impressive rugby the whole season.

Wynberg, pronounced wine in English but spelt wyn in the Afrikaans or, historically more correctly, Dutch manner as wijn, is an historic part of the history of European settlement in South Africa. The Dutch grew vines and made wine in and around the hill that gave the area its name. A farm there was first allotted to Jan van Riebeeck in 1658, which he called Boscheuwel. A fifteen man effort by the SACS boys and vocal home ground support saw SACS end the Bishops U11 three year unbeaten record.
