Wynberg U13A end season on a high after claiming the Triple Crown.

Wynberg and SACS faced off in the annual end of season derby game at Wynberg Junior on Saturday. SACS who beat Wynberg earlier in the season were coming off three consecutive losses while Wynberg were the in form side having won their last four games. The weather was ideal for a display of running rugby and the crowd turned out in their numbers to witness what was to be a “humdinger” of a game!

In another inspirational team performance Wynberg U13A's keep their winning streak alive.

In what can only be termed a physical encounter the likes of which this author has not previoulsy witnessed at this level of rugby Wynberg once again proved tenacious in defence to emerge 15-12 victors.

Wynberg hosted Rondebosch in this return fixture after having succumbed to their opponents by the same margin (12-15) at Rondebosch earlier in the season.

August 13, 2011

Wynberg U13A put on a huge defensive effort to win.

In this return traditional fixture played at Wynberg this morning in cold and damp conditions, what stood out to me was the gritty and determined defensive effort that the hosts displayed throughout the match. It is without a shadow of a doubt what earned the team their well-deserved victory today - the first time this particular team has beaten Bishops during the four years that I have been watching them play.

Wynberg's U13A rugby side put nine tries past WPPS

Another glorious winter's day in Cape Town produced a wonderful spectacle of running rugby from the hosts Wynberg as they squared up to traditional rivals Western Province Preparatory School.

With the bitter memory of a poor first-half display against Worcester last week still fresh in the players' minds they were determined to put this aspect of their game right. Perhaps this led to a case of over-eagerness as a slew of penalties was conceded at the breakdown area. Players tended to dive into the rucks without remaining on their feet.

Wynberg rally in the second half to score three tries.

On Saturday morning all of Wynberg Boys Junior School's rugby playing boys made the bi-annual, long journey along the N1 north-bound and through the Hugenot tunnel to Worcester for this traditional rugby fixture.

Although the temperatures were on the cold side with strong winds and an ominous-looking cloud cover, the threat of rain never materialised into anything more than just that - a threat.

Durban Preparatory High School emerge victorious against Wynberg again.

In a late afternoon game Wynberg's U13A rugby side hosted their counterparts from Durban Preparatory High School on a day bathed in glorious sunshine.

The first fifteen minutes were evenly matched with both teams enjoying territory and possession in roughly equal measure. What made the difference however was the silky running skills and wonderful side-stepping ability of the DPHS inside centre. He put these superb abilities to good use on three separate occasions as DPHS snaffled loose ball off the hosts' handling errors.

RBPS U13A hold on for a 3-point win against a plucky Wynberg. Report by Marc Sabatta.

An injury struck Wynberg Boys U13A side travelled to Rondebosch on Tuesday, to tackle a very well drilled and in form Bosch team. After school matches are never easy, but both teams were up for the challenge as the pre match banter had already started while the sides were in Durban touring.

SACS produce a two-try spell in the first half to down Wynberg.

On Thursday 23rd June SACS U13A rugby side hosted Wynberg for an afternoon game that had to be moved to the top fields due to the amount of standing water on their regular playing fields.

Conditions were difficult as temperatures had plummeted overnight and heavy rains had fallen which resulted in numerous muddy patches. The game would be decided by the team displaying superior handling skills and making fewer mistakes.

Wynberg shake off a rusty first half to score three tries in the second against Primrose Rugby Club.

Wynberg travelled down the road to play against Primrose Rugby Club in Kenilworth on a cold and overcast day.

The visitor's first-half display showed glimpses of what was to follow as the backline impressed with some hard running and slick passing. It was only desperate defence and the odd spilled pass that prevented Wynberg from gaining the upper hand.
