A positive change for this rugby side as they improve dramatically on last year's statistics.

The statistics below highlight the achievers of the Wynberg U12A side. It must be remembered however, that it takes fifteen players to make a rugby side and that every single team member has contributed to the success of this team's much improved season on previous years.

Wynberg play against the odds and almost pull off a win.

Many thanks to Andre Ford for this additional match report on yesterday's game:

Wynberg Boys started solidly and was rewarded with a try scored by Aaron
Alexander with a darting run on the wing. Both teams were contesting well at
the breakdowns and rucks. Late in the first half DPHS managed to score a
converted try.

Bishops beat Wynberg in an entertaining game of rugby.

Bishops managed to play themselves to victory in a hard-fought encounter against a resurgent Wynberg side that simply could not find their way through a determined defensive effort from the hosts.

Wynberg trounce touring side Colet Court from UK.

In a friendly set of fixtures held at Wynberg, the touring side Colet Court from the UK were given a lesson in all aspects of rugby this afternoon.

Both the U13A and U12A sides of Wynberg were far too strong for this touring side. The visiting spectators were heard mentioning that the hosts' U12A side looked more like a UK U14 side! No wonder their players suffered in the physical exchanges as Wynberg U12A dominated in all phases of play running in five unanswered tries in the first half and another four in the second.

Wynberg U12A impress against Worcester.

Wynberg's U12A side showed good composure and tenacity in overcoming a 60-0 drubbing at the hands of the same opponents in last year's away fixture. Although hosts Wynberg had only spent the past week training without boots to accommodate the visitors, they coped well on match day.

SACS U12A rugby team outplay Wynberg.

The Wynberg boys, buoyed by their early successes this year and having beaten SACS last year in an away game by the slim margin of 12-10 in a very close-fought encounter were expected to come out on top in this home fixture.

The SACS side however had other ideas and proceeded to play a more attacking game and took their opportunities better than those of Wynberg. The hosts suffered from a leaky defence out wide and paid the ultimate price.

The visitors scored three tries to Wynberg's two.

Final score 24-12 to SACS.

Wynberg U12A rugby side settle into an exciting brand of rugby.

The Wynberg U12A rugby side played some entertaining yet physical rugby on Saturday at home against traditional rivals Rondebosch.

Not having beaten their opponents in the three previous years of competition Wynberg were hungry for a change in fortune. This hunger showed and although they allowed Rondebosch to make the early running and go into a strong 10-0 lead via two well-worked tries, this young combination stood tall in the tackle and capitalised on their opponents' uncharacteristically lackluster backline play.

May 15, 2010

Wynberg U12A rugby side win again.

In an entertaining game played in perfect conditions the Wynberg side was far superior in all aspects and should have won the game by a bigger margin were it not for the poor conversion rate and a lapse in concentration in the last minute when they allowed WPPS to score their solitary try.

Final score 22-7 to Wynberg.

May 13, 2010

Wynberg play a tactically superior game to beat Primrose Rugby Club.

Halftime score was 10-7 in favour of Wynberg. Deciding to keep the ball away from the much heavier Primrose forwards the dangerous Wynberg backs made good use of the surplus of possession that came their way in the second half.

Final score 22-14 to Wynberg.
