The Athletics Sport in Schools is a major part of the school curriculum; all schools across the country have some form of athletic sports. You have internal school team events, inter-school events, provincial and national events. Athletics as with all competitive sports requires time and commitment to reach higher levels. All athletic events are among the most popular activities at school as well as at the more prestigious events, such as the Olympic Games.

There are many benefits to participating in athletics at school. Each athlete will develop certain life skills like learning how to work in a team, develop perseverance, learn the importance of commitment and also improve their overall health. Students who become involved with Athletics learn to be responsible and will learn time management skills, having to show up on time for practices.

Another major benefit of participating in school athletics is that it looks good for university admissions. Students will be able to show that they have performed both academically and athletically. The student will be able to represent a well-rounded performance and will be more likely to receive admittance into a higher learning institution.

Participation in athletics will teach students the value of perseverance along with other values needed for success. These values will stay with students as they go to University and go into the workplace.
